I began working with wood when I was in grade school. I whittled many projects seen in books and helped my parents with re-finishing antiques. Later in life I began making duck decoys and taking those to craft shows in Kansas and Tennessee. As a kid I played with my dad’s Craftsman wood lathe but didn’t take it seriously until a dozen years ago. I saw some pictures of segmented woodturning on the Internet; I knew I could replicate and improve on all of those I saw. Through much experimentation I developed my own technique for creating these bowls and vases and I have completed well over 2,000 projects. A small number of these creations are now in Canada, Europe, and Australia; and of course most are in the USA. I continue to experiment with colors and design ideas and will display all of the new works in this gallery.
