About the artist

Michael is an enthusiastic and gifted photographer who enjoys traveling throughout the country from Colorado to Oregon, photographing some of the most beautiful natural scenery in the world. Driven by a life-long love and respect for our natural world, Michael has been photographing fascinating images of landscapes, flowers, and wildlife for over 38 years. His flair for transferring these natural images to photographs takes patience and the opportunity of being at the right place at the right time. Michaels’s fine art photography collection captures the simplest, most everyday subjects and transforms them into elegant, breathtaking images through his wonderful attention to detail in composition and technique. Michael’s unique perspective and gifted photographer’s eye produce photographic images that are often compared to paintings.

Michael was born in 1961, and grew up in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. Photography has interested Michael since he was about 9 years old. Photography started as a hobby with black and white processing when he was in the 7th grade, and branched out to color around the time he graduated from high school. Michael worked as a freelance photographer with a local newspaper from 1980 to 1983. Then he worked for several years as a picture framer, and as a photo lab technician for 12 years. He has been working as a free-lance photographer since 1985. Michael’s photographic knowledge is mostly self-taught from many magazines and books. He has developed his skills over the years through the pursuit of nature photography, as well as through courses and workshops, and he is now exploring the world of digital color photography. Viewers comment that they appreciate his sense of composition and creative use of lighting and that his photographs capture the beauties of nature in such a way that they have the experience of being there.
