About the artist
Gail Posner is an artist inspired by the vast landscape of the Southwest. There is a magical spirit of the land that emerges for me when Gail is engaged in the creative process. The colors, textures and seasons of the earth lend themselves so well to the media of pastel painting. It is Gail's intention as a painter to capture the light, color, texture, and sacredness of the land.
When engaged in the creative process she want's to suggest the spirit of nature and the Ancient Ones that came before us.
Biography:
Gail Posner has been painting for eight years. She enjoys water media and mixed media collage. However, for the last five years She has focused exclusively on pastel as her primary medium. Gail loves the palette of colors and the feel of the pastel gliding on the paper. The immediate quality of pastel, the pure pigment, and the ability to layer and create textures in nature appeal to her.
The high desert of Northern New Mexico and traveling to new places are Gail's inspiration. She is constantly taking photos for visual references during my journeys, and she looks forward to the summer and fall for opportunities to participate in plein-aire classes and workshops. It is an artistic adventure for Gail to explore solitude and meet and connect with fellow artists.
Gail hopes to convey her love and respect for nature and this beautiful earth through her paintings. She is intrigued by indigenous cultures, and traditions, and is guided by the Four Directions to depict the sacredness of the land.
