About the artist
Dr. Cappas works in private practice as a psychologist and marriage and family therapist. His interest in photography covers a 20 year period culminating in studies at the Center of Creative Studies, Detroit, Michigan. Majoring in fine art photography, his most recent work emphasizes platinum and palladium printing. The photos are made using large format (8 x 10) negatives, and contact printed on archival paper utilizing traditional platinum/palladium processes. All prints are limited edition original photos.
Dr. Cappas' photographic work covers a myriad of subjects from landscapes and sporting events to still-life and portraitures. Currently, he is studying digital manipulation of images, as well as the piezographic printing process technique (a computer generated process for black and white images).
Several gallery shows including an exhibition in the Czech Republic (1997) have displayed his work. He has been an exhibiting artist with Shadow Mountain Gallery since 1992 and featured in three special exhibits presented by the Gallery: "The Czech Republic Revisited" (1999), "Studies in Serenity" (1998), and "Faces and Places of the Czech Republic" (1995).
